Disgusting
This ad for condoms clearly shows the contraceptive culture's disdain, not just for the idea of children, but for children themselves. Clearly, there are men and women of good will who are concerned about the impact of "over"population and the effects of multiple children in poor families, and though I do disagree with their position, I recognize that these are thoughtful human beings wrestling with a complicated social concern.
But this ad clearly demonstrates the dark side of the contraceptive movement. It's not just the potential effect of additional people in the world that is addressed in an ad like this, but rather a very open contempt for children themselves. As Mark Shea repeats frequently: Show me a culture that despises virginity, and I'll show you a culture that hates children.
This demonstration of contraceptive contempt is similar to the T-shirts put out a while ago by Planned Parenthood. Despite repeated "assurances" by abortion-rights advocates and organizations that they want to avoid making abortion just a simple contraceptive choice, beneath the diplomatic rhetoric (or maybe a better phrase is patronizing lip-service) lies something like this:
Created by Planned Parenthood to coincide with National I'm Not Sorry Day to commemorate the anniversary of Roe vs Wade, we see that the issue isn't simply making abortion legal and helping to limit the number of abortions through advocacy and support. Rather, it's to reposition abortion as simply a choice--like changing hair color or having a wart removed.
This culture of death (embodied in much of contraceptive/abortion rights ideology) seeks to reduce human beings to something far less--whether its a choice or a biological element. The dignity of the human person is cast aside. Which is why I believe that the Powers and Principalities with which we contend support such movements.
In fact, sometimes I imagine that the only thing Satan hates almost as much as God is children. . . .

There's a unified culture?
By "culture," I am referring to the spoken and unspoken assumptions, expectations, and values that permeate modern American (and European) life. For example, the idea that having a family with more than 2 children is irresponsible.
I would have used the term sub-culture, except that I think that the contraceptive mindset is probably the dominant perspective in American life.
I hadn't heard that but I would agree that it's true depending on circumstance.
It is a very complex issue, but there are those people who would say regardless of the circumstances having more than 2 children is irresponsible.
